Congratulations and an apology to our teams. It has taken me all week to recover from 6 days of helping to make the Region I tournament a great success. Thanks to our great volunteers for another outstanding tournament. The weather was the reverse of last year, ending up hot and dry. But no team went home without completing their scheduled games for the first time in at least two years.
Now, congratulations to six teams. First, the U12 Girls, WVUSC Elite, won their first two games and advanced to the semi-finals as the wild card. Unfortunately, they lost to the 2010 Champion in that semi-final game by a 2-0 score in a hard fought game. But they came home with bronze medals for their great effort.
Second, to the U16 WVSC Elite Titans, for going undefeated with two wins and a tie. They lost the chance to advance to the semi-final round on a goal differential tie breaker. Very competitive team, but a hard way to end their tournament.
Third, to four teams who were awarded the Fair Play awards in their brackets. Congratulations to the U13 Boys WVSC Rowdies, the U14 Boys CFC Fury, The U14 Girls WVUSC SHOX, and the U19 Girls WV Chaos.
In addition to the four victories and one tie mentioned above, other WVSA Teams came away with the following;
U12 Boys WVSC Premier 1 win, U13 Boys WVSC Rowdies 1 Tie, U15 Boys WVSC Wizards 1 win, U18 Boys WVSC Revolution 1 win, U12 Girls WVSC Rowdies Premier 1 Tie, U17 Girls CFC Elite 1 win, and the U19 Girls WV Chaos 1 win.
