Goal Safety
IMPORANT GOAL SAFTEY NOTICE

All,
This e-mail is going out to all of our Board members, and others who may be interested. I would like to have anassurance that EVERY COACH OF EVERY TEAM practicing at the fields this spring will get a copy of this.

On Wednesday of this week, all of the goals were moved off of the playing surfaces in order for maintenance to take place Wednesday evening and Thursday. As there are practices on Thursday, I knew goals would be moved back
into position. I stopped by the fields last evening at 6:40 and observed from the parking lot teams practicing on Field 2 at one end, a keeper and coach at the goal on the other end, and another team and coach on Field 1.
While I was watching, a young boy on the team on Field 1 jumped up and swung on the crossbar. I yelled down to the coach and asked if the goal was staked. He checked, and it was not. I admonished him and he went to check the
other end, as well as the goal on Field 2. None were staked.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

By our own rules, I should have ordered both teams off the fields. I did not. I simply warned them that this was their one and only warning. The teams are now on notice as well that any violation of this rule by any of
their members from this time forward will result in the teams losing practice rights at our fields.

This is not an ego trip by me, nor is it something to shrug off. If we wait until a child is injured or killed, it will be too late to take it seriously.
Any coach who does not make it a practice to check every goal before every practice or game has no business being out of the field instructing children.

Our insurance company requires it, our Board requires it, and common sense requires it. There will be no more warnings.
I hope all of the Board members agree with this position.
