The WVSA Open Cup, is open to all WVSA registered teams, competitive, recreational, and All-Star recreational.

We will try to bracket teams by their age and abilities. To bracket properly, all teams must provide us with information on team make-up, record, experience and results against other teams in the Cup. This information can be emailed to us at cups@wvsoccer.net and the subject line be the age group followed by team name entered (ie U10Boys Rockets). If this information is not received, you may be bracketed in the highest level.

Upon receipt of your entry and payment, WVSA will send your team an email confirmation.

The Rules and Regulations of the competition and medical release forms that will need to be completed can be found on our website www.wvsoccer.net.

Contact WVSA immediately if you feel you have been misclassified.

U9-10 Competition 7V7 roster limit - 14 players for Travel teams & Tournament Teams

U9-10 Competition 7v7 roster limit - 12 players for Rec & Rec All Stars

U11-12 Competition 9v9 roster limit - 16 players for Travel teams & Tournament Teams

U11-12 Competition 9v9 roster limit - 18 players for Rec & Rec All Stars

All other age brackets will be 11 v 11 with a roster limit of 18 players

Teams entering with expanded rosters, must designate which players will play each game.

Team awards are limited to the roster limits (12 or 18).

REFEREES: This is WVSA largest tournament and our biggest problem is recruiting enough referees to man all the games. Each team MUST designate a referee that can do 3 games each day, or must designate several referees as partial that combined can commit to 3 games per day. If you cannot find a referee, call the State Office for help in locating one.

Team bracketing will be posted after the drop date.

(Teams will NOT be entered in bracketing until payment is received – NO EXCEPTIONS)

Schedules and directions to the fields will be posted by 1 week prior to the tournament. Because this tournament stretches our capabilities to administrate and officiate, we reserve the right to limit the total number of teams, to refuse entries if they force inefficient bracketing. We may be unable to properly bracket highly competitive teams unless they play up several brackets. If we cannot do this, we may have to refuse entry.

Remember that there are fines for dropping from the competition. If you must drop, do it before the drop date, and call Beth Noss immediately and confirm by emailing cups@wvsoccer.net

Competition will be round-robin on Saturday. On Sunday, there will be some round-robin games, and semi-finals and finals. All teams are guaranteed three games, with no team playing more than two games per day.
