MUSC U18G Shox Claims Third Place In Region I Premier League

The Mountaineer United Soccer Club U18G Shox finished third Sunday in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Premier League in Delaware.

Here's a recap of the semifinal and third place match:

Semi-Final:  PDA Ginga 6  MUSC Shox 1

PDA Ginga, 2013 national semifinalists, led MUSC Shox 2-1 at halftime. and capitalized on a couple of Shox errors to extend its lead to the final whistle. The Shox failed to convert some good scoring opportunities, but played had for the last moments. PDA edged Beadling 4-3 in the finals to claim the league championship.

3rd Place Match:  MUSC Shox 2  Quickstrike FC 1 (Shox win on PKs)

After 90 minutes of scoreless action, most of which was dominated by MUSC Shox, Quickstrike FC scored the go ahead goal in the opening minutes of extra time. In the closing seconds of the match, Shox scored the equalizer on a cross from the corner to send it to kicks from the mark. After the Shox keeper Erika Yohn made a key save, she eventually scored the winning kick to send the Shox to a victory and a third place finish in the league.
